MOURINHO SIGNS 4 YEARS CONTRACT WITH CHEALSEA FC

Jose Mourinho believes the Blues' young squad needs a manager who will bring stability and has suggested he is ready to end his usual pattern of three-year spells.
New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he is ready to stay at the club "for a long time" following his appointment as coach for a second time at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Mourinho has won league titles as a coach in four different countries and has established a reputation for seeking new challenges every few seasons. Upon his return to Stamford Bridge, however, Mourinho has expressed his desire to settle down in West London and guide a young squad to success over time.

"I am the same, physically the same, but every day you have to think about yourself, especially the manager, and about the evolution," Mourinho told the club's official website. "I have the same nature, but I'm much more mature with a different approach to things, I'm more ready to be in a club and stay for a long time."

Mourinho believes stability is the order of the day at Chelsea given the emergence of youth in the first-team squad in recent seasons.

"I hope so," he replied when asked if he imagined a stay longer than his usual three years. "When you look at the profile of the Chelsea squad I think it's what they need at this time.

"If you look from my time, there are around four or five boys and these are the older ones - very important for this football club and very important for the balance of the squad, but it's a young squad with a lot of talent and I think they need stability to reach a high point of their evolution and for their careers.

"They need stability, stability. I hope I can give them and between me, the owner and of course the club, we have no doubts about what we want to do and the approach we want to have.

Mourinho also expressed his love for the club, even though his departure in 2007 was not under the greatest of circumstances.

"I feel myself not just as the Chelsea manager, because this is the first time in my career that I've arrived at a club that I already love. Normally I love the club a couple of years after I am there," Mourinho said. "Of course I go to a club, I wear the shirt and I feel the shirt with the crest and I give everything I have to do it, but this is the first time where I love it already.

"To be at the same time a Chelsea fan and a Chelsea manager is a new feeling for me and it's a fantastic feeling."

Drogba hits winner as chelsea defeat Barcelona   Chelsea produced the kind of "perfect'' performance Roberto Di Matteo had demanded to inflict Barcelona's first Champions League defeat of the season and give themselves real hope of reaching the final.

Didier Drogba celebrates after netting the winning goal on half-time  The first leg was played in  Stamford Bridge,Interim boss Di Matteo's plan paid off spectacularly, Didier Drogba scoring the winner to go some way to burying the demons of the sides' last meeting three years ago. The Catalans dominated possession as well as creating a succession of chances - but Drogba struck in first-half injury time to give interim manager Roberto di Matteo's side an advantage to protect in Barcelona next Tuesday.                                                  CL - Chelsea FC v Barcelona, Didier Drogba  Chelsea were forced to mount a resilient rearguard action in the face of Barcelona's famous passing "carousel", but Drogba converted their one clear chance to reward the outstanding defensive work of Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole and captain John Terry in keeping Lionel Messi and co at bay.
Barcelona produced evidence of the huge threat they will pose in front of their own supporters as they enjoyed 72% of the possession, but Chelsea will be elated at not only claiming the victory but also keeping a crucial clean sheet.
Alexis Sanchez hit the crossbar for Barcelona early on and Pedro hit the post in the dying seconds - while Cole cleared off the line from Cesc Fabregas. Goalkeeper Petr Cech also saved well from Messi and Carles Puyol as Pep Guardiola's team tried every avenue in an attempt to break Chelsea down.
In the end, Chelsea's organisation and discipline was rewarded but Di Matteo knows they will have to produce the same - and more besides - in the Nou Camp to confirm a meeting with either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final in Munich next month. The pattern of the match was set the moment the visitors kicked off, Chelsea allowing them possession and Raul Meireles leading the pressure behind Drogba.Luck played a part in the first of them in the ninth minute, Alexis Sanchez chipping against the crossbar from Andres Iniesta's perfectly-timed pass.
The other two both fell to Cesc Fabregas courtesy of Lionel Messi, who was otherwise restricted to a quiet half.
The first was a sitter, Fabregas failing to connect properly with his finish after Messi's burst and pass had set up Andres Iniesta for a shot Petr Cech parried.
Messi finally had the chance to build up a real head of steam two minutes before half-time, Fabregas this time producing a delightful dink which was only kept out by Ashley Cole's clearance off the line.
Otherwise Chelsea had plenty to give them hope from what little ball they had.
The benefit of going long was quickly demonstrated when only a heavy touch prevented Drogba capitalising on Cech's clearance.
Drogba, who got away with overstepping the mark when he trod on Sergio Busquets' foot, also failed to make the most of a one-on-one with Carles Puyol.
Long throws predictably unsettled Barca, too, and Gary Cahill almost took advantage of the first of them.
Chelsea did tread a fine line discipline-wise, with Meireles lucky not to pick up a booking that would see him suspended for the second leg.
"Same old Barca, always cheating,'' chanted the home fans whenever a Barca player went down.
They were in good spirits despite the deluge, which may have played a part in Drogba scoring with the final kick of the first half.
Barca were caught upfield and Frank Lampard's ball over the top sent Ramires rampaging forward, the Brazilian's cross picking out Drogba.
Victor Valdes should have saved the scuffed finish but could only help it into the net.
Barca were even more dominant after the restart, Cech parrying Adriano's curler before Sanchez missed another gilt-edge chance when he stabbed Fabregas' scooped pass wide from six yards.
Otherwise they were being kept at bay by a world-class defensive display led by Cahill and John Terry, who were almost single-handedly keeping Messi quiet.
Pep Guardiola sent on Pedro for Sanchez with 24 minutes remaining, with Barca becoming increasingly frustrated, not least with perceived play-acting from Drogba, who got an earful from Puyol.
There was finally a booking when Ramires tripped Messi in full flight, Pedro quickly following for a similar offence on Cole.
Busquets was also cautioned for scything down Ramires after Juan Mata was withdrawn for Salomon Kalou.
Fabregas left the field to a chorus of boos for Thiago Alcantara as Chelsea began to drop deeper and deeper, as they had done three years earlier.
Barca laid siege to the Blues goal and Cech produced a magnificent save three minutes' from time when Puyol glanced Messi's free-kick towards the corner.
And, in stoppage-time, the visitors saved their worst finish until last, Busquets skying high over the crossbar after Pedro's effort had hit the post.it was trully an interesting encounter

THE RACE FOR THE TITLE

                                   THE RACE FOR THE TITLE

As the race for the EPL toughens with united losing by a lone goal to wigan athletic and MANCHESTER CITY winning thier game with 4 goals against West Bromwich Albion the points between the two top teams where cut as united is 5 points clear with Manchester City trailing them behind......
2011-12 Premier League Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini - 0Roberto Mancini: "United are a fantastic team and I don't think they can lose five points. For us it is important that we finish this good season for us well. This is the best season since 1968 and this is important. I fight always, every day, and also my team but now I think it is too late. I think they have fantastic spirit, United. We don't have the same spirit and for this reason I think this is very difficult.

DO YOU THINK THIS IS JUST ANOTHER MIND GAME FROM ROBERTO MANCINI to distract Sir Alex Ferguson boys?WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS???????
